A Devil Named Pat and His 666 Club

I can't endorse this!
For as long as I can remember, I've thought that televangelist Pat Robertson was evil incarnate. In the early 1990s, I produced a recording which collaged audio from a "700 Club" broadcast about "standard[s] of decency" and "maintain[ing] a civilized society" and laid it atop an eerie bed of ambient bass guitar, Indian bells, windchimes, and backward 12-string guitar. The title I gave that piece was "A Devil Named Pat and His 666 Club." [LINK UPDATED. AUDIO NOW ONLINE.]

Robertson has repeatedly proven himself to be just as evil as my earlier impressions suggested, and today he did it yet again.

Don't kill 'em all, Pat'll make those decisions
Yahoo! News reported earlier today that Robertson suggested on his hate-fest-of-a-program Monday that Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez should be assassinated. According to the Yahoo! article, these are some of the words that spewed from Robertson's filthy mouth:
We have the ability to take [Chavez] out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. [...] We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator. [...] It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with. [Emphasis mine]
Isn't that special?

What is anarchy?
If Pat Robertson can say things like that on the air, then "society [has broken] down into [the] absolute anarchy" that he described in the audio segments I used in "A Devil Named Pat and His 666 Club" -- and it's his own damn fault.

Christianity is stupid!
If you want to write to the Christian Broadcast Network and express how you feel about them broadcasting such madness, click here and you can do so online.

UPDATE: Video (QuickTime .MOV format) of Robertson making these statements is available online via Media Matters.
