About the Blogmaster
Tim Maddog was abducted by aliens several years ago and is now secretly blogging from an island where even the domestic media doesn't know its name.
Before his abduction he helped to create The Sedition Commission, actively opposed an infamous racist political candidate, hosted his very own weekly radio show (where he was threatened by backers of the aforementioned candidate), and fought the College Republicans singlehandedly. During the 1980s and 90s he published the 'zine Vital Information.
Tim Maddog is an atheist, a vegetarian, a non-drinker, and a bicyclist. If you don't use your rear view mirror when driving alongside him, he will rip it off of your car with his bare hands. If you're an extra-large uniformed soldier, and you crash your motorcycle into him, be prepared for an ass-whoopin'. He's a Maddog! On the other hand, if you smile at him, he'll smile back at you. (See more on my Blogger profile)
The name of the rap?
The name of this blog comes from the title of a rap done by Tim Maddog on The Sedition Commission's An Ambient Boot to the Head. Listen to it online here.
Maddog Quotes
* Question everything -- especially this.
* My race is human. What's yours?
* They cannot control us!
* Part of the real secret is that "us" includes you.
* Ignorance is bliss, and I'm pissed.
* I only eat live meat.
* Everything in moderation -- even moderation itself. (...though I'm apparently not the first to have said it.)

My Taiwan shitlist
Be careful with these motherfuckers who disguise themselves as "journalists." They're armed with memes like "renegade province" and aren't afraid to use them. If any of 'em ever see me, they'd better get on the other side of the fucking street.

Glenn Reynolds must diet
The shit-eater's amorphous "Taiwan policy"
Doing further research into Glenn Reynolds' foray into Taiwan rumormongering, I found that his shit-breath (at least regarding this topic) began a couple months earlier.
Here is the chronology of chronic coprophilia (links in originals):
March 26, 2005
But look what he writes just nine days later.
April 4, 2005
Six weeks later, his recurring nuclear fantasy rears its ugly head again.
May 17, 2005
This leads up to where I left off in my previous post...
June 26, 2005
But then there was this "coincidental" bit of "news" that came out on July 18, 2005:
The suggestion that Taiwan acquire nukes as a deterrent is absurd. China already has them, and a nuclear arms race between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait would push the tension in the region right over the edge. With the pan-blues constantly blocking Taiwan's defensive arms budget, it would also be a practical impossibility.
The world needs to get rid of nukes, and Glenn Reynolds needs to clean out his cesspool. Then he must diet.

ROGER SIMON SAYS "BRAVO!" to Taiwan's independence marches.Without further comment, I assume Instapu..., too, says "BRAVO!" He doesn't even utter a "Heh" or an "Indeed."
But look what he writes just nine days later.
April 4, 2005
If I were the Taiwanese, I'd be looking to buy nuclear weapons from North Korea . . . .Note how he tries to affiliate Taiwan with two of Bush's "axis of evil" countries. Dude, Taiwan is not your sock puppet and you won't "have Taiwan" do anything.
[...]
Macchiavellian [sic] plan: Give nukes to Taiwan. Have Taiwan explode one in the Pacific as a "test." Have Taiwan announce that it got them from North Korea and Iran and will acquire more. Watch China deal with both countries . . . .
Six weeks later, his recurring nuclear fantasy rears its ugly head again.
May 17, 2005
MATT YGLESIAS EXPLAINS AMERICA to the Chinese.Like, acquire them out of thin air? Why is he now being so vague about the source of these nukes?
He might also point out that the 9/11 attacks didn't have the expected effect. For a warmongering global imperialist power, America seems to be insufficiently feared.
UPDATE: Hmm. If Taiwan "acquired" a few dozen thermonuclear weapons, would the calculus change?
This leads up to where I left off in my previous post...

THIS IS UPSETTING:It's hard to see what Reynolds actually means through all that brownness. Maybe he wants Taiwan to stand up to China -- all by itself, using nukes -- and if it's unsuccessful, well, he's still got his teaching job. He seems to be unaware of what happens when countries wage war without a real alliance or even a plan.China is building its military forces faster than U.S. intelligence and military analysts expected, prompting fears that Beijing will attack Taiwan in the next two years, according to Pentagon officials.Perhaps we can kill two birds with one stone by floating a rumor that Taiwan is acquiring nuclear weapons from North Korea . . . .
But then there was this "coincidental" bit of "news" that came out on July 18, 2005:
A North Korean parliamentarian allegedly visited Taiwan to "sell" missiles made in North Korea, a monthly magazine in Seoul reported in its August edition. This was immediately denied by Taiwan's government.
[...]
The magazine reported that the parliamentarian's visit to Taiwan was designed to market North Korean missiles. It is not clear whether the North Korean had targeted Taiwan as purchaser or just had meetings with other nationals in Taiwan.

Glenn Reynolds eats his own shit for breakfast
Rumor "floated" right the fuck here!
If Professor Glenn Reynolds (AKA "Instapu...") talks the way he writes, he must really have bad breath. Heh. Indeed.
Pee-yoo!
To hell with consequences!
While an illegal war rages on in Iraq -- a war which was at one time supposedly based on the odoriferous claim that Saddam Hussein had tried to purchase "significant quantities of uranium from Africa" -- Instapu... has this to say about the island that I call "home," which has about 700 Chinese missiles currently targeting it:
Psycho warfare
I missed the original Washington Times story by a couple of days, but considering the source and how it's being echoed echoed echoed and further distorted, you might begin to wonder about its purpose.
The 700 missiles that China has aimed at Taiwan are already a real threat, and the ramping up of that threat is simple psychological warfare. Doesn't Instapu... wonder if his preposterous suggestion to "kill two birds [China and Taiwan?] with one stone by floating a rumor" about "nuclear weapons" might cause people to misinterpret his "Celebrate Diversity" T-shirt. Ya think, Glenny Boy?!
[Note: If Instapu... had said "float a rumor that China is acquiring nuclear weapons from North Korea," I might think the "two birds" to which he alludes are China and North Korea -- but that's not what the Professer said. There's also a huge difference between a harmless rumor ("She's not a natural blonde.") and a harmful one ("The British Government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa .") What the fuck does Reynolds think he's doing by pointing the finger at Taiwan?]
China = Red flags.
North Korea = Alarm bells.
Taiwan = An easy target for chickenhawks?
Effuse, reuse, repeat
Many things in life flow in a cycle. Rain falls, filling ponds, rivers, lakes, and oceans. Then it evaporates, forms clouds, and falls down again as rain. In Instapu...'s nut-rition cycle, he skips one of those stages entirely.
Perverted bedfellows
Let me make it a little bit clearer in case some of you aren't into science or poetry and aren't reading between my scientifi-poetic lines: The Washington Times clearly supports Bush, his administration, and all their excretory activities. The newspaper-cum-birdcage-liner is owned by shit-fetishist Sun Myung Moon, who has connections to North Korean dictator Kim Jung-il (AKA "Dear Leader"). North Korea, you may remember, has nukes and have threatened to used them. Saddam Hussein, on the other hand, had Uday, Qusay, and... oh, yeah, those rape rooms (which have been replaced with... Abu Ghraib).
Bush + Neocons + Glenn Reynolds + Washington Times + Sun Myung Moon + Kim Jung-il = a really big heap of shit.
Bullshit with consequences
What goes up must come down. Got front row seats for a Gallagher show? Bring a raincoat, and expect to get sprayed. If you pick a fight (Iraq), you'd better be prepared to take some blows -- sign up. Enlist your kids, even. If you start a rumor ("Taiwan is evil, heh heh!"), be prepared to reap the natural consequences (nuclear war with North Korea?). There's always the chance that you may not know just how much you don't know.
It just goes to show how blind these motherfuckers are to the reality-based world everybody else is living in.
Tootsie Roll him off your blogrolls
If you link to Instapu... in your blogroll because "everybody else does," you're nothin' but a sheep -- and a stupid one at that. Get him the fuck off of there -- now! He's an overactive, habitual, bulimic (binge, purge, repeat) coprophage. Anything he spews should be considered with that fact, er, "rumor" in mind.
Stand back! The shit has already hit the 'Net!
An update before I'm even finished writing the original
In an article appearing July 1, 2005 on Yahoo! News Singapore, former US ambassador to China and current director of Asian Studies at the American Enterprise Institute James Lilley counters the Washington Post piece. The article says, summarizing Lilley's words:

"[...] U.S. military deployment in the Asia-Pacific region and the security cooperation between the United States and its regional allies will deter China from making an impetuous move."I wouldn't bet my life's savings on that outcome either. I'll surely write more on that topic at another time, but I believe that the U.S. prefers that the cross-Strait tension not be resolved anytime soon.
